Measured Right Before Anything Gets Cut
An install really begins with a tape and a level standing in your bathroom. Walls are never plumb. Not in a new build, not in a remodel, not anywhere. In the large primary baths common through this part of northern Macomb County, a small lean down at the curb turns into a visible wedge of daylight up at the ceiling, and tile stacks its own variation on top of that. A curb can run high at one end. A knee wall can bow out through the middle. So we take numbers off the real opening at the top, the middle, and the bottom, and we write down which direction everything is out of true. That sheet is what the glass gets built from, and it is the whole reason a custom enclosure sits tight to tile instead of getting caulked into submission.
Nothing is cut until those numbers are checked twice, because tempered glass cannot be trimmed after the fact. It gets fabricated to size with the holes, the notches, and the edgework already in it, then it is tempered, and at that point it is either right or it is scrap. That is why the measure is the most important part of the entire job. Our standard heavy glass is 3/8 inch tempered, thick enough to hang dead straight and stay steady when a door swings instead of shivering every time somebody closes it. When the finished glass comes back in, the same people who took the measurements are the ones carrying it into your house. They already know which wall was leaning and which side the hinges are landing on.

Hardware gets anchored properly, the header or the top of the panel comes in level even when the wall is not, and the door is set so it holds where you leave it. Silicone goes where water needs to be stopped and stays off the places that need to breathe. It should look intentional, because it is.
How Install Day Actually Goes
The crew covers the floor before anything heavy comes through the door. Layout goes on first, because the anchors have to land where they will hold, not just where they are convenient, and drilling tile is a one-chance operation. Hardware is set and checked for level, then the glass goes in. A big frameless panel is a two-person lift and it is handled that way. Once the glass is standing, the door gets aligned so it swings clean, closes square, and holds position instead of drifting open on you. Then it gets sealed. Before anyone leaves, the crew walks the finished enclosure with you, shows you how the door is meant to operate, and tells you how long to let the silicone cure before the shower gets used.
One thing worth knowing up front: we do glass. We do not do tile, plumbing, or steam generators, and we are not going to pretend otherwise. On a new build or a full bath remodel out here, that means we are one trade among several and the sequencing matters. Tile finishes, then we measure, then the glass is made, then we install. Calling us during the planning stage rather than the week you want to shower in it gives everybody room to breathe. How long does the installation take?
It depends entirely on the enclosure. A single tub door is a much shorter visit than a large frameless primary shower with a return panel and a fixed transom. Can I just give you my own measurements?
We would rather take them ourselves, and it is not about doubting anybody. Tempered glass is final once it is made, so a quarter inch in the wrong direction is not an adjustment, it is a rebuild. Measuring an opening for glass also means reading how the walls lean and where the tile runs proud, which is hard to capture with a tape alone. The measure is free.
Do you handle the tile and plumbing too?
No. We measure, fabricate, and install glass and the hardware that carries it. Tile work, plumbing, and steam generators belong to other trades, and we think you are better served by people who do that all day. We work alongside those trades constantly on remodels and new builds up here, so coordinating the schedule is normal for us.
When can we use the shower after installation?
There is a cure window for the silicone, and using the shower too early is the one thing that can undo good sealing work. The crew will tell you before they leave exactly how long to wait for your enclosure. It is a short wait and it protects the job, so it is worth planning the install for a day when that bathroom is not the only one in service.
