No. The old enclosure comes out of the same holes it went into, and the tile around it stays put. We take the frame and hardware off carefully, clean the opening, and set the new glass into it. Your pan, your valve, and the plumbing behind the wall are not part of the work. Tile, plumbing, and steam systems belong to other trades anyway.
My glass will not come clean anymore. Is that etching?
Almost certainly. Hard water leaves minerals behind every time the glass dries, and over the years that film etches into the surface.
