New Glass, Same Tile

Most Eastpointe bathrooms do not need a gut job. They need the glass fixed. If your enclosure is fogged over, if the frame has gone chalky along the bottom, if the door drags or drips onto the floor every morning, the tile behind it is usually fine. Replacement goes after the actual problem. We build a new enclosure to the opening that already exists, so the tile stays, the pan stays, and the plumbing stays exactly where it is. You get new glass, new hardware, and a door that closes the way it should, without a demolition crew in the house. For most homes it is a straightforward change, and the old enclosure goes out with our crew the same day the new one goes in.

Replacement is also the easiest chance you will get to change how the room looks. Eastpointe sits at the southern edge of Macomb County, and the housing here is largely dense postwar bungalows on small lots with small original bathrooms. A heavy old frame in a dated finish makes a small bath feel smaller and darker than it is. Clear 3/8 inch tempered glass with slim hardware gives that same room its light back. You can go frameless if the opening supports it, or keep a frame and change the finish so it matches the faucet and the lighting you have now. We bring samples to the free in-home measure so you are choosing against your real tile instead of a picture on a screen.

What we build

Shower Door Replacement, measured and built for Eastpointe.

01

Your Tile Stays Put

Replacement works with the opening you already have. No tile comes off, the pan stays, and the plumbing is untouched. We measure the real walls and the real curb, build the glass to those numbers, and set it. That keeps the job short, keeps the dust down, and keeps your one bathroom usable.

02

Old Door Hauled Off

When the new enclosure goes in, the old one goes out with our crew. You are not dragging a chipped frame and a heavy panel of glass out to the curb yourself, and you are not storing it in the garage until you figure out what to do with it. We take it with us.

03

Built for Hard Water

Metro Detroit water is hard, and it etches shower glass over time. The haze on your current door is mineral, not dirt, which is why scrubbing stopped working years ago. New glass starts clean. Ask about easy-clean glass and keep a squeegee in the shower, and it stays that way much longer.

How it goes

Why Eastpointe Doors Wear Out

The enclosures we replace in Eastpointe are often the second or third door a house has had, and most of them failed the same way. The bottom track filled with mineral and stopped draining. The rollers wore and the panel started riding low. The sweep hardened, cracked, and quit touching the curb. Water found the gap and went to the floor. None of that means the shower is bad. It means the door is finished. A small original bathroom makes it worse, because the glass sits close to everything else in the room and every drip lands somewhere that matters.

What you get out of a replacement is a door built to your opening instead of to a box store size. Walls in postwar houses are rarely plumb, and an off the shelf enclosure fights that with shims and extra silicone until the water wins. We measure the real opening, note exactly where it runs out of true, and fabricate the glass to those numbers in house. The same crew that measured comes back and sets it. That continuity is the whole reason the fit holds up. Our showroom is at 42624 Van Dyke Ave in Sterling Heights, and the in-home measure is free with no pressure to buy anything.

Good Questions

Common questions.

Do you replace shower doors in Eastpointe?

Yes. Fortune replaces shower doors throughout Eastpointe and the rest of Macomb County from our showroom at 42624 Van Dyke Ave in Sterling Heights. We measure in your home for free, fabricate the glass in house, and install with our own family crew. Call (586) 315-8900 or text (586) 800-9481 and we will set up a no-pressure measure and quote.

Will you have to take out my tile?

No. Replacement is built around the opening you already have. The tile, the pan, and the plumbing all stay where they are. We work off the existing walls and curb, and anchors go into the same general area the old ones did. If we see something in the tile or the pan that concerns us, we will point it out at the measure so you know about it before glass is ordered.

Why is my old glass cloudy?

It is almost certainly hard water. Metro Detroit water carries a lot of mineral, and over years it etches into the surface of untreated glass. Once it is etched it is in the glass, not on it, so cleaners stop doing anything. New glass solves it outright. Easy-clean glass is available if you want a surface that sheds water instead of holding it against the pane.

Can I change the look while I am at it?

That is one of the best parts of replacing. You are not stuck matching what was there. You can move from a heavy framed door to slimmer hardware, or to frameless if the opening supports it, and you can pick a finish that matches your faucet and your lights. Ask about the full range of finishes at the measure and we will hold samples against your own tile.

How does the process work?

Two visits. The first is the free in-home measure, which does not take long. Then your glass is fabricated to those numbers. The second visit is the install, when the old enclosure comes out, the new one goes in, and we haul the old door away. Anything we seal needs time to cure before you run water, and we will tell you how long that is.
