Local to the Shores

Glass that fits your bathroom, not a box on a shelf.

St. Clair Shores homes run the gamut, from lakeside bungalows near Jefferson to newer builds further inland. Whatever the layout, your shower opening has its own measurements, and a custom enclosure should honor them. We come out, take real numbers, and build to them.

The same family measures, fabricates and installs every job. No sub-contracted glass crew, no guesswork passed down a chain. The person who quotes your enclosure is part of the team that builds and sets it.

Lakeside bungalows and everything inland.

St. Clair Shores homes run the gamut, from lakeside bungalows near Jefferson to newer builds further inland. Whatever the layout, your shower opening has its own measurements, and a custom enclosure should honor them. We come out, take real numbers, and build to them.

The mid-century houses here are full of tub and shower combos, and floor space in those bathrooms is at a premium. When a vanity, toilet or the bathroom door sits close to the shower, a swinging door gets awkward fast. That single fact decides more projects here than any style preference.

The city was built across many decades and layouts, from mid-century originals to recent remodels, so bathrooms come in every configuration imaginable. A frameless door in a smaller lakeside bathroom makes the room feel larger, and in a remodeled one it makes the work look finished.

What we install here

Three ways to enclose a shower.

01

Frameless

Clean 3/8" tempered glass held by minimal hardware. The look most St. Clair Shores remodels are after: open, bright, and easy to keep clear.

02

Sliding / barn

Glass that glides on a top track. Ideal for tubs and tighter bathrooms where a swinging panel would crowd the room.

03

Swing / hinged

A hinged glass door for walk-in showers. Solid, simple, and sized to your exact opening for a clean swing every time.

Clean 3/8 inch glass, sized to your room.

Frameless shower doors in St. Clair Shores are the look most remodels here are after: open, bright and easy to keep clear, with heavy tempered glass held by small clips and hinges and almost no visible metal.

For tubs and tighter bathrooms where a swinging panel would crowd the room, sliding and bypass doors glide aside quietly instead. You can go framed for a crisp, defined edge, or choose a sleeker bypass that rides on a slim header with heavy glass and very little metal.

Corners, neo-angles, inline door and panel layouts and open walk-ins are all on the table with a custom enclosure, designed around your bathroom rather than bending your space to a boxed kit. And replacement pulls the tired enclosure and sets new custom glass in the opening you already have, with tile, pan and plumbing staying put.

The failures we see most often.

A sweep that has gone hard and lets water onto the floor. A track that was never quite level, so the panels drag and the rollers wear on one side. And glass carrying enough mineral film from years of hard water that scrubbing has stopped changing anything.

We pull the tired enclosure and set new custom glass in the opening you already have, with tile, pan and plumbing staying put. In a mid-century bathroom that is often the only change the room needs to stop looking dated.

Good Questions

Common questions.

Do you serve St. Clair Shores?

Yes. St. Clair Shores is squarely in our service area, an easy drive from our showroom on Van Dyke Ave in Sterling Heights. We measure, build and install custom shower enclosures throughout the city.

Can I see the glass and finishes before I decide?

Absolutely. You're welcome at our Sterling Heights showroom on Van Dyke Ave to compare glass (clear, low-iron, frosted, rain-textured) and hardware finishes in person before you commit.

Who actually installs the shower door?

The same family that measures and fabricates it. We don't sub-contract the glass work, so the people who quote your St. Clair Shores job are the ones who build and set it.

How much does a custom shower door cost?

It depends on your opening size, the glass, and the hardware finish. We give free, no-pressure quotes, so call (586) 315-8900 and we'll set up a measure.

What works best over a mid-century alcove tub?

A sliding or bypass door, most of the time. The panels pass each other instead of swinging out, so a tight bathroom keeps its floor.

Is framed or frameless better for a bungalow bath?

Both work. Frameless makes a small room read larger, while a crisp framed edge can suit an older bathroom. We will show you the difference before you decide.

Does the tile have to come out?

Usually not. If the tile and pan are sound, new glass goes into the opening you already have.

How much clearance does a swing door need?

Enough to open fully without hitting the vanity, the toilet or the bathroom door. We check the arc during the measure, and where it does not clear we show you a slider or a different hinge placement instead.

Is a bypass door with a slim header the same as frameless?

Not quite. A slim header bypass uses heavy glass with very little metal and reads much cleaner than a traditional framed slider, but a header still runs across the top. It is the closest you get to frameless where a door cannot swing.
