The Measure Is The Whole Job

Every shower door problem you have ever lived with started at the measure. A door that drifts open on its own. A gap that lets water onto the floor. A panel that looks slightly off once you notice it, and then you cannot stop noticing it. None of that is the glass being wrong. It is the glass being cut to a drawing instead of to a room. Bathroom walls lean. Curbs slope, sometimes on purpose. Framing moves over decades. A shower opening that reads as a clean rectangle on paper is almost never a clean rectangle in a house. We take the real numbers off your walls, top, middle, and bottom, and we build to what is actually there. That is the difference between an enclosure that fits and one that mostly fits.

Then the glass gets fabricated to those numbers. Tempered glass cannot be trimmed once it is made, which is exactly why the measure has to be right the first time. Holes for hardware, notches, edge work, all of it happens before the glass is heat treated, so the panel that arrives is the panel that goes in. On install day the crew setting it is the same family crew that took the measurements. Nobody is reading a stranger's notes in your bathroom. If your opening had a quirk, they already know, because they are the ones who found it. In Utica, where a lot of bathrooms are on the small side and a half inch shows, that kind of care is what keeps the finished job from feeling like a compromise.

What we build

Glass Shower Door Installation, measured and built for Utica.

01

Measured In Your Home

We do not quote off a photo or a floor plan. Somebody comes to your bathroom, measures the opening at several points, checks how far the walls run out, and looks at the curb and surround before anything is ordered. The measure is free and there is no pressure attached to it either way.

02

Fabricated To Those Numbers

Your numbers go straight to the shop. The glass is cut, edged, and drilled for your hardware, then tempered, which is what makes it safety glass. Because tempering comes last, nothing about the panel can be adjusted afterward. It has to be right going in, and that is how we work it.

03

Set By Our Own Crew

Installation does not get handed to a subcontractor who has never seen your opening. The same in-house crew arrives, sets the glass level, anchors it into solid backing, and seals the joints that need sealing. They clean up after themselves and show you how the door is meant to operate before they leave.

How it goes

Installing Glass In Utica Homes

Utica sits in Macomb County with a compact historic core and newer condo and townhouse construction filling in around it, and those two housing types hand us very different openings. In the older homes near the center, bathrooms are small and the walls have had decades to settle, so out of plumb is the rule rather than the exception. In the newer condos and townhouses the framing runs straighter, but the openings are often narrow, and the builder enclosure that came with the unit was never made for that specific space. Either way, a measured, fabricated-to-fit installation is what makes the room work. We would rather spend extra time in your bathroom with a level than send a crew back twice.

Hard water shapes the install conversation here too. Metro Detroit water spots glass quickly, so where a panel sits, how water runs off it, and whether you want easy-clean glass are all worth settling before anything is built rather than after. Our standard heavy glass is 3/8 inch tempered, thick enough to carry its own hardware and feel solid in your hand every time you use it. Frameless, semi-frameless, and framed installs each have a place depending on the opening and the look you are after. Utica is one of the closest cities to our Sterling Heights showroom, so it is easy to come in, put your hands on the glass and hardware, and see the difference in person before you commit.

Good Questions

Common questions.

Do you install glass shower doors in Utica?

Yes. Utica is one of the closest cities to our Sterling Heights showroom at 42624 Van Dyke Ave, and we install across Macomb and Oakland County. Call (586) 315-8900 or text (586) 800-9481 to set up a free in-home measure and a no-pressure quote. Showroom hours are Monday through Friday 9-5 and Saturday 10-2 if you would rather see the glass first.

Why can I not just order a door in my opening size?

Because your opening is not one size. Measure the same shower at the top, the middle, and the floor and you will usually get three different numbers. A stock door assumes a perfect rectangle and hides the difference behind a wide frame and filler strips. A fabricated door is built to the actual spread, which is why it closes evenly and does not leave a gap for water to find.

What glass do you install?

Our standard heavy glass is 3/8 inch tempered. Tempered glass is heat treated so it is far stronger than ordinary glass, and if it ever breaks it comes apart into small dulled pieces instead of long shards. Easy-clean glass is available on top of that, and it is worth asking about given how hard the water is around here.

Do you handle the tile and plumbing too?

No. We are a glass shop. Tile, shower pans, plumbing, and steam generators belong to other trades, and we would rather say that up front than pretend otherwise. If your opening needs work before glass can go in, we will point it out at the measure so you can get the right person in first and we can install into something sound.

Who actually shows up on install day?

Fortune's own crew. This is a family owned shop, so the people who measured, the people who fabricated your glass, and the people setting it all come from the same operation. That means one point of contact and nobody in your home seeing the opening for the first time. Call (586) 315-8900 if you want to walk through the process before scheduling.
