Local to Utica

A short drive from your bathroom to our bench.

Utica is right next door. Our showroom sits on Van Dyke Ave in Sterling Heights, minutes from downtown Utica, so when you call us out to measure we're not coming from across the state. We know these neighborhoods, these older homes and these brand-new builds.

Every enclosure we set in a Utica bathroom is custom. We take the exact opening, build the glass to it, and install it ourselves. No template doors, no guessing, no waiting on a third-party crew.

Small city, short drive, older bathrooms.

Utica is one of our closest service areas. The showroom on Van Dyke Ave in Sterling Heights is minutes from downtown Utica, so when you call us out to measure we are not coming from across the state.

Many of the homes near the center of town are older and compact, and their bathrooms are not rooms you want torn open for a week. That is the strongest argument for glass: it changes how the room looks and works without becoming a construction project.

In older Utica bathrooms and newer builds alike, walls are rarely perfectly plumb, so we measure carefully and cut each piece to match what is really there. On a tub especially, the track and hardware have to sit on the deck correctly, or you get the two things nobody wants: water finding the floor and a track that traps grime.

  • Older, compact homes near the center of town
  • Bathrooms too small to justify a week of demolition
  • Tub decks where the track has to sit exactly right
  • Newer builds with walls that still are not perfectly plumb
What we install in Utica

Three ways to enclose the shower.

01

Frameless

Heavy 3/8" tempered glass, minimal hardware. The clean, open look that makes a small Utica bathroom feel twice the size.

02

Sliding / barn

Glass that rides on a track instead of swinging into the room. Smart for tight layouts and tub openings.

03

Swing / hinged

A true hinged door with a solid, weighted feel. Classic for walk-in showers with room to open.

One crew measures, builds and installs.

The clean look, in a room that is not oversized.

Frameless shower doors in Utica give you the clean, open look that makes a small bathroom feel twice the size, because there is almost no metal interrupting the view.

For the many Utica bathrooms that are comfortable but not oversized, sliding and bypass doors keep the room feeling open and easy to move through, since nothing swings into the floor. Over a tub, tub doors and screens keep water inside and keep the track from becoming something you dread cleaning.

Where the shower has several panels and seams, a custom enclosure is measured so every joint meets cleanly. And if the existing unit is what is dragging the room down, replacement keeps the project to a single visit rather than a renovation.

Why the old door stopped working.

In most cases it is the track and the seals rather than anything structural. Hardware that was never set level collects grime, rollers wear unevenly, and the sweep hardens until water starts escaping onto the floor. Metro Detroit hard water does the rest, leaving mineral spotting that eventually etches in.

For an older, compact Utica bathroom that is good news, because the fix stays inside the opening you already have. The tile and pan are untouched, the room does not get opened up, and the glass that goes back in is cut for the walls that are actually there.

Minutes from downtown Utica.

The person who measures your Utica bathroom is part of the same family that fabricates the glass and screws it to the wall. We never subcontract the work to outside glass shops, which is why there is one place to go with a question.

Because Metro Detroit runs hard water, we will talk through easy-clean glass options and quality hardware that stand up to mineral spotting, so the shower still looks sharp years from now.

Around Utica.

Fortune serves Macomb County and the communities around it, so if you are close to the Utica line we are already working on your street. Nearby we also build and install in Shelby Township, Sterling Heights, Troy and Macomb Township.

Everything runs out of one showroom, which is the point: the same family measures in Utica, fabricates the glass in our own shop and installs it, whichever city the job is in. The full list of communities we cover is on the service area page, and if you do not see yours, call the showroom and ask.

Good Questions

Common questions.

Do you serve Utica, MI?

Yes. Utica is one of our closest service areas. Our Sterling Heights showroom on Van Dyke Ave is just minutes away, so we measure and install all over Utica.

Who actually installs the shower door?

The same family that measures and fabricates it. We don't sub out the glass work to another crew, so the fit and finish stay in our hands start to finish.

What kinds of shower doors can I get?

Frameless, sliding/barn and swing/hinged enclosures, all in 3/8" tempered glass. Choose clear, low-iron ultra-clear, satin frosted or rain-textured.

How do I get a price for my Utica bathroom?

Call (586) 315-8900 or stop by the Van Dyke Ave showroom. We'll set up a free, no-pressure measure and quote your exact opening.

How close are you to Utica?

Minutes. The showroom is on Van Dyke Ave in Sterling Heights, just down the road from downtown Utica.

Will installing glass tear my bathroom apart?

No. In most cases we set the new enclosure in the opening you already have, so the tile and pan stay as they are. That is a very different project from opening up a bathroom, which matters in a compact older home.

Why does the tub deck matter so much?

Because the track and hardware have to sit on that surface correctly. Get it right and water stays in the tub and the track stays easy to clean. Get it wrong and you fight both.

Do you subcontract the glass work?

Never. The same family measures, fabricates and installs every enclosure we sell.

Do you install over an existing tub surround?

It depends what the surround is and how it terminates. We look at the deck and the wall condition at the measure, because the track and hardware have to sit on a sound, level surface.

How do I keep the track from getting grimy?

Choose quality rollers, ask about an easy-clean coating and wipe the track occasionally. Most of the misery people remember from old sliders comes from cheap hardware in a track that was never level.
